Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
